Animal Rescue

The Capital Area Humane Society
executed a warrant on May 7 under the protection of the Franklin
County Sherriff's Department to rescue a mare from a property in
Darbydale.
The chocolate-brown horse, now
named "Beauty," is in protective custody due to poor overall
body condition. She is undergoing medical treatment at the
Daniel M. Galbreath Equine Trauma, Intensive Care and Research
Center at the Ohio State University College of Veterinary
Medicine. The horse will remain hospitalized for several
days before moving to a foster home.
The Columbus Police Mounted
Patrol Unit also assisted with the rescue.
Update: Beauty underwent surgery the week
of May 12 to repair an existing wound on her forelock and was
placed in a cast. The cast was removed May 22 and Beauty
moved to foster care on May 27 with the assistance of the
Columbus Mounted Police Unit.
Help provide for Beauty's care and medical treatment by donating
to the Capital Area Humane Society. A special fund
has been established to help cover her significant medical
expenses.
