Want to be adopted into our family?
Our staff is so passionate about animals and matchmaking that it’s contagious. You can’t help but feel the energy in our facility, and it all comes from an honest, uninhibited love for animals. If this sounds like your kind of place, and you aren't afraid of a little slobber and cat hair, come and join our community.
The Capital Area Humane Society is an organization about animals—but we never lose focus on the human animal. We recognize that you can’t take great care of pets without taking great care of people. Our work is all about establishing and maintaining healthy and respectful relationships between people and pets and helping our community live in balance with animals. We operate under the philosophy that everyone should feel good in our facility, people and animals alike. Our work is challenging, emotional, at times exhausting and always incredibly rewarding. To encourage our staff to be and perform at their very best, we promote employee wellness through self-reflection, home and work life balance and careful consideration of compassion stress. It is not uncommon to visit the Humane Society and encounter spontaneous high fives and fist-bumps as we congratulate one another for a job well done or stop to celebrate one of the day’s successes. We understand that it’s easier to deal with poop daily when you also get to hang out with puppies. And cats. And get sloppy wet kisses whenever you want.
