  Name: PRINCESS

CAHS #: P08-175149

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: 10 months

  Breed: Pit Bull

Weight: 40 lbs

Is your 4-legged Prince Charming looking for his Princess? Look no further! Sweet Princess truly enjoys the companionship of her fellow canines and is looking for that furever home where her Prince can worship her around the clock. Even though she's still a pup, Princess P is crate-trained, housebroken and working on basic obedience. In addition to making new doggy friends, Princess loves meeting new people. She gives lots of happy tail wags, the best kisses and even "talks" a bit when she meets new people. She's just so happy to make new friends! Whether it's a girl's night of getting her nails painted, or taking a dip in the nearby pond that you have in mind, Princess is your gal! Princess is currently in foster care wrapping the two resident dogs around her pretty little paw. Princess is a member of the Bully Breed program, and, as such, there are some special adoption requirements. As with all our Bully Breed members, Princess comes with a lifetime of free training through our Bully Training classes. For more information on her royal highness, or to arrange to meet Princess, please contact Amanda.spires@gmail.com.

  Name: BATMAN

CAHS #: D08-177484

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Pit Bull

Weight: 55 lbs

Batman has it all—beauty, brains and a shining personality! This beefcake is an athletic, young boy who seems to have springs in his hindquarters and a motor in his tail. For reasons we'll never quite know, Batman's previous owner abandoned him in an old garage. Even though his trusty sidekick Robin left him high and dry in the Batcave (ok, it was just a garage), it's evident that someone loved this wiggle-butt, took great care of him and taught him a few tricks before they parted company. Batman goes potty outdoors when given the chance and is familiar with a leash (though this strapping beau may not know his own strength at times!). This guy is happy and outgoing with new people (including children) and takes every opportunity to wag-wag-wag for new-found friends. Batman is an affectionate dog and loves to give sloppy dog kisses. Given the above, (Batman's size, energy level and love of planting kisses on his people's faces--really, he's quite accurate!), Batman may be too much dog for families with small children who could be unintentionally knocked down by Mr. Exuberance. As far as other dogs, Batman loves to see other dogs on walks and is currently attending training class to help keep his mind on his handler a bit more so he can be the best canine citizen. In a multi-dog home setting, Batman would do best with a canine companion that shares his personality traits like enthusiasm, confidence and ample energy (no cats, pelase). Since this guy is about as smart and fast as they come, we're looking for an experienced owner to show him the ropes. Some of Batman's favorite activities include hanging with his volunteer buds for scratches and cookies, de-squeaking stuffed toys and having the theme song to "Batman" sung to him. Batman is a member of the Bully Breed Program and, as such, there are some special adoption requirements that must be met. Capital Area has Bully Breed classes that are free for Bully Program alumni and a great way to start off on the right paw with your new best friend. To arrange to meet Batman or to learn more about him, please contact Amanda.Spires@gmail.com. (Special thanks to Anna Cluxton for snapping these lovely pictures of Batman and putting up with his silly antics during the shoot!)

  Name: DAISY

CAHS #: A06128167

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: 1 year

Breed: American Pit Bull Terrier/Staffordshire Bull Terrier X

Weight: 42 lbs

Look at that smile! This petite pit bull and staffy bull combo is sweetly obsessed with people. She bulldozes her way into any nearby lap and then quickly snuggles in for a belly rub. Daisy aka Smooch was rescued by our Cruelty Investigators when she was found with a chain so tangled her poor head was stuck between the fence and a pole. Talk about being stuck between a rock and a hard place! This sweet girl doesn’t hold any grudges from her past though…she’s a shameless flirt with everyone she meets (kids and adults alike)! Daisy has a special talent-she actually smiles to show her absolute joy of being alive. If you’re lucky, she’ll show you her adorable grin! True to her bully heritage, Daisy is clownish, strong and eager to please. Daisy has interacted well with polite and playful dogs at CAHS, but can become scared and uncomfortable with unfamiliar dogs that haven’t exactly rolled out the welcome mat. So, we’re looking for a thoughtful and patient home that will ensure that Daisy’s future dog-dog interactions are slow, measured and always feel safe to her. Daisy is a member of the Bully Breed Program and as such there are some special adoption requirements. As with all our Bully Breed members, Daisy comes with a lifetime of free training through our Bully Breed training classes. If you’re interested in setting up an appointment to meet Fraggle or to learn more about adopting him, please contact Amanda.spires@gmail.com.

  Name: FRAGGLE

CAHS #: A06131749

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Columbus Bully Mutt

Weight: 55 lbs

Meet the shelter’s cutest playboy with the goofiest ears! Fraggle loves a good toy and has a blast in our dog run, whether just chasing down a Frisbee or playing with another canine. This sweetheart has soft fur and an even softer heart. Fraggle and his possible littermate, Strawberry, were brought to CAHS after Franklin County Dog Wardens found the two love bugs living in unsafe conditions. Fraggle is more than happy to leave all that drama behind and be somebody’s furry Romeo now! Since our Fraggs tends to be more like a cowardly lion than a “bully”, we’re looking for a gentle and patient home to teach him the ways of the world. We’re not quite sure what the parents of Fraggle could have possibly looked like, but perhaps they were also somewhat unidentifiable (but no less adorable!) bully breed mixes themselves. So Fraggs and his “sister”, Strawberry, are proud representatives of all the other Columbus Bully Mutt dogs out there too! Woof woof! Fraggs is a member of the Bully Breed Program and as such there are some special adoption requirements. As with all our Bully Breed members, he comes with a lifetime of free training through our Bully Breed training classes. If you’re interested in setting up an appointment to meet Fraggle or to learn more about adopting him, please contact Amanda.spires@gmail.com.

  Name: STRAWBERRY

CAHS #: A06126864

  Sex: Spayed Female

Age: 1.5 years

Breed: Columbus Bully Mutt (pit bull mix)

Weight: 50 lbs

A few words dogs know: walk, car, cheese, cookies. A few words dogs don’t know: mass, biopsy, cancer. Strawberry is dog-social, gently charming with new people and just waiting to give her kind kisses to her new family. ‘Berry is looking for her special people that will care for her, no matter what. She’s happy, active, young and mischievous. ‘Berry had a grade 2, mast cell tumor removed from her right side in late October. She’s back to feeling herself (now that the incision has healed) and is in foster care. She loves living in a home—especially the comfy couch and her favorite chew toy: the remote control. An admitted zoomie addict, she’s definitely the bright spot in her two bully brothers’ day. I mean really, who wouldn’t enjoy having their toys stolen right from their paws, dangled just out of reach and then sprinting through the house to retrieve them? As a mixed-breed dog of unknown origin, we’re not quite sure what breeds make up Ms. Shortcake’s family tree. Staff considers Strawberry a pit bull mutt, so she’s a member of our Bully Breed Program. We have some special adoption requirements, so please inquire for details. Anyone interested in giving ‘Berry a home to call her own will be connected with veterinary professionals to discuss details about her care. Her new family will have access to free training for their new furry family member through our Bully classes. If you’re interested in meeting Strawberry or you’d like to learn more about her, please contact Amanda.spires@gmail.com.

  Name: BRUTUS

CAHS #: A06203769

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 3 years

  Breed: Dogue de Bordeaux/Viszla mix

Weight: 97 lbs

Brutus’ previous owner was unable to care for him due to her own health problems, so he came to CAHS to find a family to love and care for him forever. Brutus is a friendly, loving, goofball of a boy who loves to cuddle and to receive belly rubs! He’s a responsive guy who’s quite in tune with his human companions, and he adores practicing his commands and learning new ones! Bright Mr. Brutus already knows how to “sit,” and he is learning to lie “down” on command (he offers this behavior on his own sometimes!), as well as to “come” and “stay.” Brutus loves to run and play, and he is a fabulous fetcher! He delights in chasing after the toys his buddies toss, and he brings them right back, dropping them nicely at his playmates’ feet so they can fling them out again! He will do best in a house with a fenced yard, in which he can enjoy plenty of daily exercise. Some of Brutus’ favorite pastimes are rolling in the grass for the sheer joy of it, lounging beside his person, and enjoying interactive play with a human pal and a toy or two. He seems to be housetrained, and he walks nicely on a Weiss Walkie. His new family will need to continue to work with this big, strong boy on his leash etiquette (he’s a great listener and he’s very food motivated, so he catches onto manners training quickly!). Brutus seems to like most (though not all) other dogs, and his volunteer friends are helping him to improve his canine meet and greet and play skills. Brutus is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because of his size and strength, and because he is still developing social graces with members of his own species. He will do best with a family with previous large-breed experience. Please e-mail specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org to arrange to meet handsome Brutus.

  Name: GEORGE

CAHS #: A06244553

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 2 years

  Breed: Saint Bernard/Golden Retriever mix

Weight: 71 lbs

George was a bit too exuberant his previous home, and he is looking for a family to love and care for him forever. George is a wonderfully sweet, bright, loving boy who loves to cuddle and spend time with his people, and he bonds easily and closely with friends of both the human and canine persuasions! He loves to play with other dogs, and he is fantastic with the other dogs at the daycare and the dog park he attends! George is housetrained, and he walks nicely on a Weiss Walkie leash. He rides very nicely in the car, and he is very well-behaved in his kennel! Handsome George is a bright fellow who already knows how to “come, “sit,” and lie “down,” and he loves to show off his repertoire of commands (especially if yummy treats are involved!). He is responsive, obedient, and eager to please his human pals! George is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because he can be mouthy when he doesn’t get adequate exercise and attention. He requires daily exercise so he can release his energy in a positive way and consistent training in order to be on his best behavior. Love child George also jumps up to seek attention at times. He is working with his volunteer friends to learn more appropriate ways to ask his pals to notice him (and he’s doing great!). George would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he could enjoy daily off-leash exercise (he’s a big, soft, snuggly couch potato when he receives this!), and with a high-spirited canine companion or two with whom to run and play. He is available to families without cats. Please e-mail specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org to arrange to meet gorgeous George.

  Name: FRECKLES

CAHS #: A06129182

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Lab/Hound/Pointer mix

Weight: 46 lbs

Freckles was rescued from an abusive home by our humane officers, and he is looking for a family to provide him with the tender, loving care he so deserves. Despite his unhappy background, Freckles is a wonderful boy who loves life as well as everyone he meets! He is friendly and playful, and he loves to cuddle and be petted! In addition to being enamored with people, Freckles absolutely loves other dogs! He loves to make new canine friends, and he has a fabulous time playing with his furry pals in the CAHS dog run, as well as at the daycare and the dog park he attends! He has an exuberant play style, so his ideal canine housemate would need to have the energy and enthusiasm to keep up with him. Freckles is an active boy who adores playing fetch (he’s great at it, too!), and he loves to run through the tunnel in the dog run! He would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he could enjoy daily off-leash exercise, and with a high-spirited canine companion or two with whom to run and play. Freckles is incredibly bright and he learns very quickly! He already knows how to “sit,” “shake,” and lie “down,” and he is learning how to “stay” (working for yummy treat rewards ranks high on his list of favorite things to do!). He rides very nicely in the car. Freckles is doing beautifully with his housetraining at the shelter (he never potties in his kennel and he always pees and poops outside!). He will benefit from a consistent, positive housetraining routine in his new home to cement his housetraining skills. He is a strong young man who is learning to walk on a loose leash – his new best friend will need to continue to work with him in this area. Freckles is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because he tested as having food aggression when he arrived at CAHS. He is working with our volunteers to overcome this, and he is doing great! He does not display any aggression even when his human friends pet his handsome face and head as he eats, place their hands in his food bowl and his mouth while he is eating, or take his food bowl away from him! Please e-mail specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org to arrange to meet fabulous Freckles.

  Name: BEAR

CAHS #: A06857828

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Shepherd/Collie mix

Weight: 56 lbs

Bear was rescued from a neglectful home by our humane officers, and he is looking for a family to provide him with the loving care he so deserves. Bear is a wonderfully sweet, loving, affectionate boy who would like to be a lap dog in his new home! He loves to cuddle and have his belly rubbed, and his soft, lush coat is a pleasure to caress! He is very well-behaved when he is being brushed (he’s also a very good boy in his kennel!). Bear is very responsive, and he already knows how to “sit” and lie “down” (he performs these commands very nicely, and he is equally happy to be rewarded with petting and cuddling or tasty treats!). He is an active boy who loves to run and play, and he adores playing with plush squeaky toys (he’s learning to play fetch with tennis balls, too!). Bear is a bit nervous when he first meets a new dog, but he relaxes once he sees that his furry friend means him no harm, and he loves to play with his canine pals in the CAHS dog run! He prefers one-on-one play sessions to romping with groups of 2 or more. Bear seems to be housebroken, but because he lived in a garage before arriving at CAHS, he will benefit from a consistent, positive housetraining routine in his new home. He is available to households with children ages 10 and up. Bear is a member of the Special Adoptables because he can be mouthy when he doesn’t get adequate exercise and attention. He requires daily exercise so he can release his energy in a positive way and consistent training in order to be on his best behavior. Bear would do best in a home with a fenced yard where he could enjoy daily off-leash exercise, and with a canine companion with whom to run and play. Bear also tested as having food aggression when he arrived at CAHS. He is working with our volunteers to overcome this, and he is doing great! He does not display any aggression even when his human friends pet his handsome face and head as he eats, place their hands in his food bowl while he is eating, or take his food bowl away from him!   Name: CHARLEY

CAHS #: A06388143

  Sex: Neutered Male

Age: 2 years

  Breed: Doberman Pinscher/Lab mix

Weight: 76 lbs

Charley’s previous owner was unable to care for him properly, so he came to CAHS to find a family to love and care for him forever. Charley is a sweet, friendly, happy boy with a tail that is constantly wagging! He is responsive and eager to please, and he responds very nicely when asked to “come!” Charley loves everyone and everything – life, people, other dogs, new experiences – and he’s not afraid to show it with his bright eyes, happy face, and ever-wagging tail! He’s an active boy who loves to run and play, and he is just learning how to play with squeaky toys (a little peanut butter smeared on the ball is a great incentive for this handsome charmer!). Charley has been wonderful with the other dogs he’s met at CAHS, and he adores playing with his canine friends in the CAHS dog run! He’s great with all the other dogs at the daycare and the dog park he attends, too! He would do best in a home with a fenced yard in which he could enjoy plenty of daily off-leash exercise. He would especially love to live with a canine companion or two! Charley loves to cuddle and be petted, though he’s so overjoyed about receiving attention right now (something he unfortunately didn’t get much of in his previous home) that he tends to prance around gleefully when it’s time for loving rather than sitting still to receive his well-deserved caresses. Charley seems to be housetrained (he does not potty in his kennel and he always pees and poops outside!), but because he spent several months as an outdoor dog, he will benefit from a consistent, positive housetraining routine in his new home. Charley is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because his previous family did not take the time to provide him with basic good manners training (such as teaching him not to mouth or jump up on his human friends for attention, and teaching him basic commands). He is working with our volunteers to learn more appropriate behaviors, and he is doing very well! His new family will need to use positive reinforcement to continue to help Charley develop into the well-behaved companion he will someday be. Please e-mail specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org to arrange to meet wonderful Charley.

  Name: SLY & HONEY

CAHS #: A06249708 & A06249728

  Sex: Male & Female

Age: 8 months

  Breed: Terrier Mixes

Weight: 15 lbs & 12 lbs

Sly and Honey’s previous family was unable to care for the little twins to whom their dogs gave birth, so the puppies came to CAHS to find a family to love and care for them forever. Sly and Honey are very timid with new people, but they warm up to those who take the time to get to know them. Once they are comfortable with their human friends, they become happy, loving, playful cuddle bugs! Honey (black and white) is the more active and bouncy of the two, and Sly (brown and white) is gentler and more laid back. Sly and Honey are learning to play with plush toys, and they adore playing with one another! They’ve also been great with the other dogs they’ve met at CAHS (and they lived beautifully with the 3 other dogs in their previous household!). The sweet twins love to snuggle and to have their bellies rubbed, and they enjoyed sleeping in bed with their former dad! They had free run of the house during the short periods their previous family members were gone, and they were always very well-behaved! Their former family told us that they were partially housetrained, and they do beautifully with their housetraining at the shelter (they never potty in their kennels and they always pee and poop outside!). Sly and Honey already know how to “sit,” and they love to work for tasty treat rewards! Our little twins are very close, and they are seeking a home they can share. They are available to adult-only households. Sly and Honey are members of the Special Adoptables Program because of their timidity. They are working with our volunteers to overcome this, and they are beginning to blossom into the happy, playful puppies they will someday be! Their new family will need to provide them with ongoing socialization and lots of positive reinforcement to help them become comfortable with new people and situations. Please e-mail specialadoptables@cahs-pets.org to arrange to meet precious puppies Sly and Honey.

Age: 1 year

  Breed: Rottweiler

Isabell is very timid with new people, but she warms up to those who take the time to get to know her. Once she feels comfortable with her human friends, she becomes a silly, loving, playful, and affectionate cuddle bug who loves to cuddle and have her belly rubbed! Isabell loves to learn new things (especially when she is working for yummy treat rewards!), and she already knows how to “sit” and lie “down!” She also loves to hang out with and play with other dogs! She is a bit timid with them initially, but she warms up quickly once she sees that her new furry friends mean her no harm. Her ideal canine companion will be calm and confident, and able to “show her the ropes” and help her come out of her shell. Because she was rescued from such an unpleasant living environment, sweet Isabell will benefit from a consistent, positive housetraining routine in her new home. She is looking for a quiet, adult-only household in which she will have a canine pal to keep her company at all times. Isabell is a member of the Special Adoptables Program because of her timidity. Peanut’s previous owners had too many dogs to care for him properly, so he came to CAHS to find a family to love and care for him forever. He is a bit timid with strangers (as well as with loud noises), but he warms up quickly and he is soon ready to climb into a new pal’s lap to enjoy some snuggles and to give a few kisses, too! Peanut lived nicely with the children in his previous household, as well as with his canine and feline housemates! He has also been very sweet with the other dogs he’s met at CAHS! Peanut is a playful fellow who loves to play fetch, and he is particularly fond of doing so with rope toys! He is a smart little boy who already knows how to “sit” and lie “down!” Peanut is crate trained, and he rides very nicely in the car.
